CLAT 2022; Check eligibility, application process, fees, curriculum

CLAT is carried out for admission to 5-year LLB and LLM programs. Registrations for CLAT 2022 will begin online on January 1, 2022.

NEW DELHI: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will publish the application form for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2022 on January 1st, 2022. The national law admission exam will be held on May 8, 2022 in offline mode. CLAT 2022 results will be accepted by 22 national law universities for admission to 5-year integrated LLB programs and one-year LLM courses.

CLAT eligibility criteria 2022

The course-related admission criteria are as follows.

UG-CLAT admission criteria

Candidates should have passed grade 12 or an equivalent exam with at least 45% of the grade (40% for SC / ST candidates) or an equivalent grade.

PG-CLAT eligibility criteria

The candidates should have completed the LLB program with at least 50% of the grades (45% of the grades for SC / ST candidates) or an equivalent grade.

Candidates who take the proficiency test are also eligible for CLAT 2022. There is also no age limit for taking the exam.

CLAT 2022 application process

Candidates who want to appear in CLAT 2022 must submit their applications by registering on the application portal. The final deadline for submitting the CLAT application form is March 31, 2022. The application process consists of the following steps.

Online registration

  • Visit the official CLAT 2022 website –

  • Click the new registration link

  • Enter your name, contact number and email ID in the registration form

  • Submit the details to complete the registration

Complete the CLAT application form

  • Log in with your registered number and password

  • Fill out the application form by entering personal details, educational qualifications, reservation criteria, test center and NLU preferences.

  • Upload the relevant documents

Fee payment

After completing the application form, applicants must pay the application fee. The CLAT application fee is 4,000 rupees for candidates without a reservation, for candidates in the SC and ST categories the application fee is 3,500 rupees.

CLAT 2022 curriculum

CLAT focuses on the critical thinking and analytical skills required for a legal education. The questions in CLAT are asked from around 29-30 comprehension passages. A total of 150 questions will be asked in UG-CLAT 2022. The syllabus for the exam is listed below.

The consortium has also announced that CLAT 2023 will be conducted in offline mode on December 18, 2022. Via CLAT, the participating NLUs will offer around 2,622 places in integrated 5-year LLB programs and around 850 places in one-year LLM courses.
