NMAT is a national MBA entrance exam clearing that allows you to be admitted to leading B schools such as NMIMS Mumbai, KJ Somaiya Institute of Management, XIM University, ISBR Business School, SRM University, Indian School of Business (Advanced Management Program in Business) Analytics) and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (PGMPW).

This exam is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), an international non-profit organization of B-Schools.

What do you have to appear for NMAT 2022:

  • To be admitted to the MBA entrance exam, you need a bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university with an overall increase of at least 50%.
  • You can also apply when you have your final exam in 2022.
  • There is no age limit for NMAT.
  • If you did not use up all three available NMAT exam attempts between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, you can register and apply for the additional NMAT exam window.

Some tips for cracking NMAT:

Understand the exam

Each MBA exam tests whether you have specific skills and therefore the format of each exam is different. Your preparation for NMAT should begin with writing down the syllabus for each section, gradually increasing the difficulty of the questions, and keeping the time available in your head as you attempt several questions. With this analysis you lay the foundation for your further preparation.

Clarify your concept

Before engaging in ridicule and asking higher level questions, it is necessary to get a clear understanding of the underlying concepts. Since NMAT tests a candidate’s effectiveness, you can’t screw up the basics. It is important to know the basics of math like LCM, HCF, prime numbers, and complex numbers. Once this is done, you can move on to the advanced level.

Be consistent

NMAT or any other competitive exam in this regard requires consistency. Getting a decent score will be difficult if you study for a week and then give up your preparation for a fortnight. Stay consistent in your approach and don’t let your goal distract you.

Concentrate equally on all sections

Just because you’re weak on a section cannot afford to ignore it – NMAT has a section limit. However, there may be some who are good at a particular section and so set it aside to prepare for the other sections. But even this practice is not advisable. Your preparation should be balanced.

Accelerate

In addition to testing your basic knowledge, NMAT also tests how fast you are with your answers. Since you are not allowed to have a calculator during the exam, you have to do the math quickly. Learn some tricks for quickly performing multiplications, divisions, and other basic math techniques. While the new adaptive pattern doesn’t have negative ratings, if you left some questions unanswered, you’d lose ratings.

Make fun of it

Mocks are important to analyze your preparation level. Writing a mock every week and then gradually increasing the frequency of the mocks will give you more information on how to proceed during the exam. You can redesign and reformulate your strategies after each mockup – it will give you a good idea if time is an issue for you or if you are having trouble with a particular section.

Use several attempts

NMAT gives you a maximum of three chances and the best score from those attempts will be considered. Take this opportunity and make at least two attempts every three to four weeks. This will give you plenty of time to improve your score and target better colleges.
