S Somanath appointed as the new head of ISRO

S Somanath was named ISRO’s new chief after the Cabinet Appointments Committee (ACC) approved his appointment on January 12, 2022. Somanath has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Space and ISRO Chair for a combined term of three years from the date of accession. He is currently the director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center. He succeeds K Sivan.
