New Delhi: Enrollments for undergraduate programs at Delhi University will begin on August 2nd and enrollments for Masters and PhD programs will be open from July 26th according to the university administration’s preliminary schedule.
Vikas Gupta, the Registrar of Delhi University, indicated that the central government is the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET), a proposed all-Indian test for various undergraduate programs, then dates may change.
“These are currently the preliminary dates for registration. We are waiting for further instructions, ”he told ThePrint. “If the government plans to do CUCET, we will stick to the guidelines. “
However, sources in the university said there is a chance that CUCET will be missed this year.
They added that the announced dates are for online performance-based admissions.
The CUCET has been discussed a lot, but the Ministry of Education has not yet announced its final decision on the exam.
The joint entrance test is part of the national education policy implemented last year and has been discussed since the CBSE, in view of the Covid situation, the class exams of the 12
CBSE has announced instead a 30:30:40 assessment template – 30 percent from the grade 10 boards, 30 percent from the grade 11 exam, and 40 percent from the grade 12 assessment.
The results will be announced on July 31st.

Discussions about CUCET
DU professors had previously described the entrance exam as “impractical” on the grounds that it would put additional strain on students amid the pandemic.
In one Organized video conference of Academics for Action and Development on June 25th, a number of professors from universities across Delhi have raised concerns about the exams.
The general consensus was that sudden implementation with no clarity, curriculum, and pattern will only exacerbate students’ problems.
Another topic was the ambiguity in the directions for students who want to change their field of study after grade 12. There are no restrictions in the DU in the choice of subjects for the degree.
The professors said that those who want to pursue subjects with CUCET that they did not study in grades 11 and 12 will have problems with the entrance exam, which will be a subject-specific exam. It would only prevent students from taking these courses.
However, a member of the Delhi University Administration asked for the test on condition of anonymity.
“Everyone has a right to their opinion, but as key players in the decision-making process, we are concerned about the admission process,” said the member. “Due to the pandemic, states do not have a consistent pattern of results and the new system for CBSE students is unprecedented. We’re still trying to understand the scoring system and how it affects the admissions process. For this reason, the introduction of CUCET as a common evaluation platform could have been a blessing. ”
