New Delhi | Jagran Education Desk: The Union Civil Service Commission announced on Wednesday that the main public service exams will take place on time in 2021. As planned on January 7th, 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th, UPSC will conduct audits across the country.
UPSC also issued an official statement calling on state governments to ensure the smooth movement of candidate / exam officials.
UPSC has asked state governments to ensure that candidates and exam officials do not experience any inconvenience while moving.
“After carefully examining the situation resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission has decided to suspend the (main) public service examination in 2021, ie on January 7, 8, 9, 15 and 16, 2022 to carry out “, it says in a statement.
The states had been informed that if necessary, the candidates’ e-registration cards and the identity cards of the examination officials should be used as tickets, UPSC said in an official statement.
UPSC Main Exam 2022: Guidelines
The guidelines mainly relate to the personal hygiene of candidates and exam officials, compliance with social distancing and the constant wearing of masks through them, and the provision of hand sanitizer in appropriate locations in the venues.
The guidelines also require exam officers and candidates to carry their own disinfectant in clear bottles.
The guidelines include regular disinfection of each venue and two spare exam rooms to accommodate candidates who cough, sneeze, complain of shortness of breath, or have a fever so they can take the exam according to appropriate safety protocols, the statement said.
Previously, a large number of students had called for the UPSC main public service exam to be postponed in 2021. They protested online and some even went to court to request the exams be postponed as Covid cases rose in the country.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Supreme Court agreed on Wednesday to hear a petition on Thursday asking it to postpone the schedule of public service audits until the COVID-19 situation normalizes has.
The public service exam is conducted annually in three stages – preliminary, main and interview – to select officials from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Field Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
