The Intelligence Bureau (IB) is considered to be one of the oldest intelligence agencies around the world. It was about intelligence targeting, but more recently it has focused on internal security. Officially, the IB is under the Ministry of Home Affairs, but in practice the Director IB is a member of a Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) and the Steering Committee has the authority to brief the Prime Minister in case of need, but through intelligence inputs. JIC has to go to regular channel in MHA. The IB works at the state and national level.
The IB exam for ACIO is conducted every year by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Assistant Central Intelligence Officer). A large number of candidates appear in the exam but very few get success and hence clearly need to prepare well for the exam. Eligible candidates applying for this ACIO exam need to understand the exam syllabus.
Age Range: – 18 to 27 years of age as on the last date of receipt of applications.
upper age: Relaxation in age limit is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
skills required :- Graduation or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
Desirable Qualification:- Computer knowledge.

Paper I is about Reasoning, General Awareness, Mathematical Ability and Comprehension for 100 minutes.
Paper II is about analytical ability and English writing skills
Comprehension: This is where the basic understanding of the English language of the candidates is judged. It includes current affairs, business, science, politics, research, banking, reasoning, economy, differences and similarities, problem solving, space visualization, judgment, analysis, discriminating analysis, relationship concepts, visual memory, decision making, non-verbal series . , number series and complete basic math.
Descriptive Test: This is the descriptive part of the English language which consists of Essay, Brief Writing, Office/Business Correspondence and Comprehension. It is to test analytical ability and English writing skills.
2016 IB ACIO Exam Paper Pattern:-
IB Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO) Grade-II Exam Paper Pattern:-
Paper I (Objective Type)
Paper-II (Descriptive Type on English Language Only).
The time duration for both the given papers is 1 hour 40 minutes.
Candidates are selected on the basis of written test and interview.
Rs.50 for General/OBC candidates
No fee for women and SC/ST candidates.
Fee is to be paid in cash by filling State Bank of India Challan.
Intelligence Bureau Exam Admit Card will be uploaded before the exam date. Candidates can download it. The examination authority publishes the result of Intelligence Bureau exam on the main web page and it is also available on the website.
Expected About IB Cutoff Marks:
- Mango: 70 marks objective and 30 marks descriptive
- OBC: 55 marks objective and 25 marks descriptive
- SC/ST: 45 marks objective and 20 marks descriptive
