Jammu, Jan 2nd: Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting today to review Covid-19 status, Omicron, vaccination for ages 15-18, and prepare health infrastructure across J&K UT.
While chairing the meetings with the Covid Task Force and the DCs, SPs, the Vice-Governor gave instructions on how to ensure the functioning of the oxygen systems, the availability of the necessary medication, the examination of the intensive care unit and the oxygen-assisted beds in all hospitals with regard to the new variant in the UT and rise in cases across the country.
The Lt Governor directed deputy commissioners and health officials to ensure that infrastructure is strengthened and used optimally from the Panchayat level. Health teams in the districts were directed to focus on quick contact tracing, checking oxygen tanks and concentrators, and ventilator availability and operation.
At the meeting, the timely implementation of the action plan of the Covid vaccination campaign for the age group 15-18 years, which is to start on January 3, 2022, was discussed.
The Vice-Governor inquired about the modalities and preparations for the smooth administration of the Covid vaccine to the age group of 15 to 18 year olds and instructed to ensure compliance with the mandatory 30-minute monitoring time of every vaccinated person.
The district-related status of the Covid containment measures was asked by the respective Deputy Commissioners, where they informed the chairman about the implementation of Covid protocols and awareness campaigns to raise people’s awareness of the danger of the Omicron variant of Covid.
The lieutenant governor directed the Department of Health and district teams to have their men and machines ready, maintain health infrastructure, testing and vaccination capabilities, and test-run PPE oxygen systems and other health equipment to effectively cope with any emergency situation to enable.
Reviewing various parameters of the Covid analysis, the Lieutenant Governor underlined the importance of adhering to Covid Appropriate Conduct, which includes maintaining social distancing and wearing masks. He instructed the district administrations to ensure the proper implementation of the Covid Protocol and compliance with CAB in their districts.
In addition, directors of Jammu and Kashmir Health Services were given instructions to conduct a meticulous rehearsal to prepare their resources to deal with any situation that arises.
The Lt. Governor requested the deputy commissioners and CMOs to submit a joint report detailing the preparatory steps and the status of the health infrastructure and human resources in their respective districts in order to effectively deal with any situation that may arise.
The lieutenant governor also congratulated the residents of Anantnag and Budgam on completing 100% coverage of the second dose of the Covid vaccine.
Vivek Bhardwaj, additional chief secretary of the Department of Health and Medical Education, gave a detailed briefing on the analysis of the Covid-19 situation, the threat level of the district, the tests, contact tracing and vaccination throughout the UT, in addition to the vaccine inventory and the Prepare for vaccine administration up to age group 15-18.
