Chemical leak in fish processing plant in Karnataka, hospitalized 20

On January 11, 2022, a chemical leak was reported in a fish processing facility in Baikampady on the outskirts of Mangaluru city in Karnataka. Around 20 of the 80 employees present at the time of the accident were hospitalized with breathing problems.

PCB chairman proposes 4-nation T20I series that India is a part of?

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said on Jan. 11, 2022 that he would make a proposal to the ICC to hold a 4-nation T20I series each year, spanning both India and Pakistan. He said he wanted to face India, Pakistan, England and Australia on the series every year. According to the proposal, the games can be hosted by the four nations on a rotating basis.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari tests positive for Covid

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari tested positive for Covid-19 on January 11, 2022. He tweeted that he had mild symptoms and had isolated himself according to all required protocols. The minister is currently in quarantine at home. Defense Minister Rajnath Sing had previously also tested positive for Covid-19.

The IPL mega auction will take place in Bengaluru from February 12th to 13th, 2022. The news was confirmed after the two new IPL teams – Ahmedabad and Lucknow – received formal approval from the BCCI. Both teams have now been given a time frame to register players before the mega auction.

Republic Day celebrations are held with stricter restrictions

Republic Day celebrations will continue to take place with tightened restrictions amid the ongoing third wave of COVID-19. The restrictions will be stricter than those imposed last year. The number of visitors who can attend the parade could be further restricted. The route of the parade will also be shorter, similar to last year. The marching contingent will end at India Gate C instead of the Red Fort.
