Nepal and India

The Union Cabinet has approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Nepal for the construction of a bridge over the Mahakali River near Dharchula (India) -Dharchula (Nepal).

  • With the signing of the MoU, diplomatic relations between the two countries will continue to improve.

Background:

  • As close neighbors India and Nepal share unique friendship and cooperation relationships that are characterized by open borders and deeply rooted family and cultural contacts between people.
  • Both India and Nepal have worked together in various regional forums such as SAARC, BIMSTEC and global forums.
