The SBI PO exam is conducted for recruitment to the post of probation officer. To pass the exam, candidates should schedule one section at a time to attempt the questions with high accuracy and within the allotted time. The SBI PO Prelims Exam consists of three sections – English, Quantitative Aptitude and Argumentative Skills with 30, 35 and 35 questions, respectively. These are all objective questions with one grade for correct answers and a penalty of 0.25 for incorrect answers. Candidates have a total of 60 minutes available for the exam. Prior knowledge of the exam pattern is essential as it provides aspirants with a platform for efficient preparation. In this article, I’ve provided some useful section-by-section tips to help you prepare for the exam.
The English section isn’t very difficult to crack and needs to be tried first. It’s a test of grammar, vocabulary, and reading skills. Students need to build a good foundation of English grammar and practice questions related to sentence rearrangement, idioms and idioms, error detection, sentence correction, etc. The vocabulary is tested by asking questions about synonyms, antonyms, filling in the gaps, identifying the mistake, and so on. Reading from a variety of sources and keeping a list of difficult words that need revision will help candidates do well. A good reading speed will help you score well on the comprehension questions.
This section is a test to translate statements into numbers or math equations and solve them. In addition, the candidates’ speed and accuracy are tested. The difficulty level of this section is medium to hard compared to other sections, which is why it is extremely important to prioritize the questions that you try first to save time. Questions asked range from topics like Probability, Profit and Loss, Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Time and Distance, Data Interpretation, etc. It is highly recommended that you practice the Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations questions by RS Aggarwal in order to do well in this section .
The argumentation section is considered to be very selective in Prelims. With good preparation you can easily get over 30 points in this section. Riddles and questions about seating arrangements have the maximum weight in this section and consist of around 20 questions. Aside from these two topics, the reasoning part consists of some other important topics like coding, decoding, inequality, syllogism, consanguinity, direction & distance, order & rank, alphanumeric series, input-output etc. These topics are simple and you can learn theirs Basics within a month. A common mistake many students make is that they continue to practice puzzles and seating arrangement questions but not other subjects as they are considered easy. They forget that solving simple questions faster gives them more time to solve difficult ones.
In summary, candidates should focus on revising critical issues. Maximum effort must be put into topics with maximum weight in the SBI PO preliminary examination. In general, in this test you should refrain from guesswork and too much time with a question, as incorrect answers will be assessed negatively. Aspirants must also allow enough time to conduct and analyze full-length trial tests, apart from regular study and repetition. Abbreviations for solving questions must also be learned. Since there are section times, learning abbreviations help the examinee to answer maximum questions in a shorter time.
SBI PO 2021 is one of the most lucrative government jobs. Passing the prestigious test requires extensive study and adherence to a preparation strategy. Before you begin preparation, you should carefully review the SBI PO curriculum for each section. Preparing for the SBI PO is a time consuming process that can be completed in reasonable time if one starts with the right plan.
