South Africa vs. West Indian ODI women’s series has been postponed, shortened to four games

The earlier schedule for the Games was supposed to start on January 15th and end on February 6th.

Given the panic surrounding the Covid-19 situation in South Africa, the boards of directors have agreed to postpone the upcoming limited series between South African women and West Indian women. Three T20 internationals and five one-daysers were supposed to play between teams earlier, but now it’s been reduced to just four ODI games. The limited series should be in preparation for the upcoming ODI. to serve the ladies World Championship in March in New Zealand.

The previous schedule for the Games was supposed to start January 15th and end on February 6th, but the postponed series will now start January 28th. West Indian women will play a warm-up match against a South African woman on January 25th and all matches are expected to be played without fans in the stadium. This will be an important series for the West Indian women who have a score to settle from the previous series.

The wellbeing of the players must be taken into account during the Covid times and every series will have a question mark from now on. West Indies CEO Johnny Grave was thrilled to move the series forward as it had to be postponed and stated the main reason was to complete preparations for the Women’s ODI World Cup.

“There has been a lot of hard work and collaboration with our friends at Cricket South Africa on this tour and we are delighted to have confirmed this newly planned ODI series that will enable us to host important international competitions at a high level play and complete preparations before the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, “said Johnny Grave, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo

“We are grateful to both the operational and medical teams at CSA and CWI for their efforts in confirming the schedule and look forward to an exciting ODI series,” he added

January 28, 2022 – First ODI, Johannesburg

January 31, 2022 – Second ODI, Johannesburg

February 3, 2022 – Third ODI, Johannesburg

February 6, 2022 – Fourth ODI, Johannesburg
