SSC Stenographer Group C and D exam will be computer based. The question paper will have multiple choice objective type questions. All questions except Part III will be set in Hindi and English. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The exam is conducted in two phases. In the first stage, there is a written examination. The written exam is of 2 hours. The written test consists of a total of 200 objective type questions carrying 200 marks. 50 questions are from General Knowledge, 50 questions from General Intelligence & Reasoning and 100 questions from English Language. After clearing the written test, students can appear for the skill test. Students appearing for Grade C and Grade D will be given a dictation, after listening to which you will have to write down all those words on a notebook. Only those students can appear in the skill test of SSC Stenographer Exam, who have qualified the first stage of SSC Stenographer Exam.

General Intelligence and Reasoning
This topic will include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. It includes similarities, similarities and differences, visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discriminative observation, relational concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, etc. In abstract thought test. And it will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with symbols and symbols, their relations, arithmetical computations and other analytical functions.
The questions in this topic will be designed to test the knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as can be expected of an educated person. This exam will also include questions related to India and its neighboring countries. It includes sports, history, culture, geography, economic scenario, related to general politics, Indian constitution and scientific research etc.

English language and comprehension
Apart from testing the comprehension of the English language of the candidates, their writing ability will also be tested. Questions will be asked from Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and its correct usage, Reading Comprehension, Para Jumbles etc.
After its written test, there will be a skill test of the candidates. The writing speed of the candidates is tested in the skill test. Candidates should have a strong understanding of shorthand (abbreviations and use of symbols) to write whatever is being spoken. It becomes difficult for many aspirants to crack this exam, because to achieve this speed, you have to practice writing consistently. The required speed is 100 wpm for Stenographer Grade C posts and 80 wpm for Grade D posts. Stenographer Grade D will have 70 minutes for the test in English and 90 minutes for Hindi. Whereas Stenographer Grade C will get 55 minutes in English and 75 minutes in Hindi.
