NMAT is one of the competitive exams for MBA candidates and here are some tips to help you crack it.
NMAT is one of the competitive exams for MBA candidates. Target universities include NMIMS Mumbai (as well as off-campus PGDM courses i.e. Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad). Some other colleges also accept NMAT results for their admissions process.
Here are a few tips to help you crack this exam:
Understand the exam
Each competitive exam tests a specific skill, so the format of each exam is different. Preparation for NMAT should begin with writing down the syllabus of each section, moving on to the difficulty of the questions asked, and drawing a mental diagram of the time available as multiple questions. This analysis lays the foundation for our further preparation.
Clarification of the concepts
Before engaging in ridicule and overarching questions, it is necessary to have a clear idea of the underlying concepts. Since NMAT tests a candidate’s effectiveness, it’s critical not to screw up the basics. You have to be thorough with the basics of math, like LCM, HCF, prime numbers, complex numbers, etc. Once this is done, the advanced level should be unlocked.
Consistency is the key
NMAT or any other competitive exam in this regard requires consistency. You can’t study for a week, then pause your preparation for 2 weeks and still expect to get a good NMAT score. CATKing will help you with this. To keep you on course with your preparation, we offer NMAT video series every day.
Same focus on all sections
Just because you’re weak on a section doesn’t give you the freedom to ignore it, as NMAT has a section cutoff too. While this is the case with most aspirants, there may be some who are good at a particular section and therefore set it aside to prepare for the other sections. This practice is also not recommended. Your preparation should be balanced.
NMAT tests your basics, but also tests how fast you are with it. You don’t have a calculator in NMAT so you need to be quick with your calculations. Learn some tricks for multiplication, division, etc. In the new adaptive pattern there is no negative rating as in the previous NMAT, but if you leave some questions unanswered because time is running out, you will lose points.
Mocks are important to analyze your level of preparation. Mocks help you keep track of your progress. Giving a mock every week and increasing the frequency of the mocks over time will give you firsthand knowledge. You can design and redesign your strategies after each mockup, whether it was the time you troubled or a specific section, you can remedy well long before the actual exam. CATKing offers both adaptive and non-adaptive mock series with well over 40 mocks to prepare you for all scenarios. These mocks are made by NMAT toppers themselves and bring you the most relevant NMAT experience.
Use several attempts
NMAT gives you the golden chance to give a maximum of 3 attempts. and the best score is taken into account. Take this opportunity and give at least 2 attempts at an interval of 3-4 weeks. This gives you enough time to improve your score and thus target better universities.
Who can lead you better than someone who has already passed the exam? CATKing brings you NMAT Thursdays, where special live strategy workshops for NMAT are held by NMIMS alumni.
