New Delhi [India]January 12th (ANI): Lohri, just around the corner, is one of the most popular festivals in the Punjab region, marking the end of winter and the time of the Rabi harvest.
Unlike most other festivals, it falls annually on the same date, ie January 13 according to the Gregorian calendar. A campfire is lit, families whirl around, singing Punjabi folk songs and popping sesame seeds, popcorn, jaggery and Rewaris.
However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it will be a subdued festival this year as well. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t plan the celebration at home by following preventative protocols to make it safer.
To make this festival super fun and lively while ensuring the safety of your loved ones, here are some tips for planning Lohri parties for you. Just look.
1. Go for home cooked food:
Without traditional delicacies, Lohri is considered incomplete. The festival starts with a campfire, but it always includes the preparation of celebratory meals made from jaggery, sesame seeds and peanuts. To round off the festivities, choose special dishes instead of ordering outside food.

2. Limited gathering:
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm. However, several restrictions on public gatherings have now been imposed by government agencies. The best way out of this situation is to limit the gathering so that guests are at least 6 feet physical apart.
3.Specify the venue at your place:
Since it is currently very unsafe to go out and be in contact with people or things, it is better that you prepare your own home for the Lohri function and invite all of your close relatives and friends. A house party is also great for saving a little extra expense, as very few things need to be done while other things are already in place.
4. Play traditional games with guests:
You can play traditional games like Carrom and Ludo, or even play silly charades and pass the package on. Just assign fun activities and celebrate harvest time with lots of candy and joy.
5. Home textiles:
The Festival of Lohri is incomplete without the decoration, but you have to be careful using things from the market. Make sure to disinfect and wash the decorative items before touching them. Alternatively, you can use elements such as dupattas and saris to give the decorations that color and vibrancy.
These have been some tips to help you plan your Lohri celebrations in 2022 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Stay healthy and enjoy this festival with your joy and happiness. (ANI)
