In this article we will get to know the environmental-ecological factor that is important for the UPSC pre-examination. The environment includes all biological, human, animal and vegetable elements, while ecology studies the interrelationships between biological and inorganic elements. The scope of this study component is broad. To understand all aspects of the environment, it is necessary to understand subjects from the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, geography, resource management, economics, engineering, social sciences, and population. The scope of the environment is very large.

Research into the interrelationships between living things and the environment deals with ecology. Ecology is the act of showing the general principle by which the natural group of animals or plants and their components function. Ecology can be used to understand the importance of the actions of a particular plant or animal in a particular region. Understanding ecology is useful for air, water, soil, and wildlife conservation. This study component for the UPSC pre-examination covers topics related to environmental ecology, biodiversity, sustainable development, climate change, etc. The curriculum states that UPSC does not require any special knowledge to prepare this component. One thing that becomes clear from the questions asked about this component is the contemporary nature of that component. Even so, it is still out of reach for the average person to own one. The importance of this preliminary examination is underlined by the number of questions on this part of the study. The number of questions asked about this component from 2011 to 2021 is as follows –

Ecological ecosystems, food chains, keystone species, eutrophication, etc. are used to cope with this factor. Important concepts should be known. Pollution is a major factor in this study. It should know about pollution, causes of pollution, remedial measures, laws that are passed from time to time to prevent pollution, institutions. Also COD, BOD, bioremediation etc. in connection with environmental pollution. The concepts need to be understood. Biodiversity is one of the key factors in this study. This is because the number of questions about biodiversity is higher. The concepts, types of biodiversity, ecologically sensitive zones, wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, deorai, game reserves, biodiversity hotspots, in-situ and nature conservation, tiger projects, etc. are important.

In addition to biodiversity, climate change is another important factor. This component is contemporary in nature. The number of questions asked about this component is higher in the exam. These factors include climate change, global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, greenhouse gas emissions, as well as climate change related initiatives like UNFCCC, Kyoto Protocol, IPCC etc, ozone depletion, carbon emissions, carbon sinks, emission allowance trading, ocean acidification, it is best to keep an eye on the annual conferences on change to keep. Various international conferences on environmental issues, e.g. it is necessary to know the Rio Summit, the Ramsar Convention, the IUCN, the Stockholm Conference, the Rotterdam Conference, the Basel Convention etc. Also, find out about organizations like the National Biodiversity Authority, Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Nimal Welfare Board, Central Zoo Authority, NGT, and the CAMPA Clean Energy Fund. The reference work “Environment and Ecology” (Atul Kotalwar, Inderjit Yadav) is helpful in preparing this component of environmental ecology. See also ecology and environment. Read Indian Express, Bulletin, Down to Earth, etc. regularly for the latest environmental developments. You can also visit the websites of the Ministry of Environment and Forests of the Union and international organizations active in the field of the environment.
